Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis, a two-time Olympic pole vault champion, set yet another world record at the Diamond League meet held in Stockholm recently.
At this event, Duplantis surpassed his own previous world record of 6.27 meters, which he set earlier this year at an international athletics competition in France. He cleared 6.28 meters, marking the 12th time he has broken the world record in this event—an extraordinary milestone in track and field history.
This remarkable achievement comes on the heels of Duplantis’ victory at the World Indoor Championships in March, and his recognition as the 2025 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year in late April. At just 25 years old, Duplantis is making 2025 a shining year in his already illustrious career.
In the same Stockholm Diamond League meet, the silver medal in pole vault went to Australia's Kurtis Marschall, the 2023 Olympic silver medalist, who cleared 5.90 meters. The bronze went to Menno Vloon of the Netherlands, who cleared 5.80 meters.
Duplantis previously won Olympic gold medals at Tokyo 2020 (held in 2021) and Paris 2024, where he also set a world record by clearing 6.25 meters.
