Roshan Gunawardena is set to be elected unopposed as the new President of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association. A former Senior Vice President of the Association, Mr. Gunawardena is expected to officially assume the role of President for a two-year term from 2025 to 2027. The appointment will take place at the Association's Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held on the 24th at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.

The rest of the office bearers of the Association are also expected to be reappointed to their respective positions on the same day.

The current President of the Association, Mr. Rohan De Silva, informed the Association several months ago of his decision to step down due to personal reasons and his demanding business commitments. His resignation was subsequently approved by the Association’s Executive Committee.

Accordingly, the Association recently appointed an election committee headed by retired Assistant Superintendent of Police N.A.T. Jayasinghe to oversee the election process. As part of this, nominations were called. During the nomination opening yesterday, only the nomination of Mr. Roshan Gunawardena was submitted for the post of President.
